A Message from Friends

Dear Friends of Maya and The Anopolsky Family,

We are all heartbroken by the tragic news that Maya Anopolsky passed away on May 28, 2024 at only 21 years old.  It is unthinkable to lose someone so promising and full of life at such a young age.  Words seem to fail how we feel for our close friends Jennifer, Sanford, Robert, and Max, whose family will never be the same.  

Maya was a steadfast and true friend who brought kindness and joy to those around her from Valley Beth Shalom and Laurence School in LA, to Holton-Arms in Bethesda, and Washington University. As a rising senior at Wash U and with a planned summer internship in advertising in New York, Maya was on her way to realizing her dreams, a future that now is unimaginably cut short.  

To honor Maya's memory, we are working with Washington University, where Jennifer & Sanford first met, to form The Maya Rae Anopolsky Memorial Fund.  With your help, we intend to raise $250,000 which will endow the fund in perpetuity and enable deserving students to achieve their dreams just as Maya once hoped.  We are pleased to announce that the fund is off to a terrific start having already raised nearly $50,000. Both the Anopolsky’s and we recognize that many have already made generous donations on behalf of Maya and the family and they are sincerely appreciated.  If you feel comfortable, we hope you’ll consider giving to this worthiest of causes.
