Nika’s Tribute

Maya was my bestfriend & person. We grew up living right next to eachother not knowing that we were gonna be such good friends until a few years after she moved into my neighborhood. Somehow we became friends towards the end of highschool and instantly clicked.

We spent most of the school year apart until we both were home for breaks/summers, which was when we became inseparable. We would spend days on end with eachother, going shopping, getting sweet treats and doing other fun activities together. I absolutely loved being in Mayas company, regardless of what it was that we were doing together. Maya understood me and completely matched my energy. I always knew I could be myself around her.

Maya was the smartest and most hardworking person I have ever met. I looked up to her and was inspired by her. She had an unmatched humor and one of a kind personality which made her unique. Maya is and always will be so incredibly special to me.

Maya & I were set to spend the summer together in new york city. When Maya told me that she was spending the summer in the city I knew I had to as well, as summers for me are not summers if they aren’t spent with Maya. I was so excited to spend the summer in the city but even more excited to spend it with Maya. On the last day that me & Maya spent together, we went shopping for work clothes. I helped Maya choose work suits, and we talked about how excited we were to be in the city together. I moved to the city a little before her and she was set to arrive a few weeks later. Maya is so incredibly special and will never be forgotten.


Although I am distraught that I no longer have my best friend with me, I am beyond thankful that I was able to cross paths with such an incredible person. Maya has changed my life in so many ways and I will never forget her beautiful soul. I will keep her memory alive every chance I get.
